all efforts to cap a ruptured oil well have failed. so now engineers are moving on to the next plan, plugging it. technicians with bp are using deep-sea robots to try to threat a six-inch tube with a rubber stopper into the pop at the bottom of the seafloor. this shows what they're trying to do exactly, the latest attempt as regulators okayed the use of chemicals to disperse the oil under water. it has some environmental groups very worried. the chemical dispersants are still our number one concern. we understand that epa is allowing them to do dispersion at the wellhead again, because they've done tests that they think show it's fine. the oil doesn't go away sincely because it's been dispersed. you may be able to break up a bit of it, but it's still there, still persistent in the environment. >> yesterday president obama stepped up his criticism of bp. he said he's not going to

tolerate any more finger pointing or irresponsibility over the spill. more travel headaches may be on the way for fliers headed to britain. authorities say ash from this erupting volcano in iceland may force them to once again close up the country's airports. this thing is still going. britain's transportation department says if the current wind and weather patterns hold and the eruption continues, airport closures may start tomorrow. germany may see disruptions on monday. a florida woman is under arrest after police say they tried to board a plane with a gun in her carry-on. it happened this morning at the petersburg airport in florida. screeners found the gun just as she was about to board. the woman told police she had forgotten that gun was in her bag. she's charged with carrying a concealed firearm. a washington state sheriff's

deputy is dead following a standoff. s.w.a.t. team members for you 49 years old myron this morning. he shot and killed his in-laws last night, then barricaded himself inside a home. during the early part of the standoff, he held his two children hostage, but later released them. myron was an 11-year veteran of the pierce county sheriff's department. president obama is remembering the police officers who were killed in the line of duty last year. he went to a memorial service today on the west frond lawn of the capitol. in brief remarks, president obama said that law enforcement officials make it possible for americans to live their daily lives with a sense of security. the number of officer deaths fell from 138 in 2008 to 116 last year. that's the fewest line of duty deaths in 40 years. those figures are from from the memorial fund. two peoplesh dead after a series of explosion hit a gun and ammunition plant in new

hampshire. yesterday's blast send thick smoeg into the air forcing dozens of people from their homes. at first firefighters couldn't get near the flames, because ammunition was still going off for up to two hours after the initial explosion. by the time it was under control, at least half of the plant had been heavily damaged. the state fire marshal says it's too soon to tell what caused the explosion. turns out the fda found a lot of problems at a tylenol plant at the center of a children's medicine recall, and one expert says the conditions are, quote, shocking. the plant had to be shut down after the inspection. congress has given johnson & johnson and the fda until monday to hand over the details of that inspection, including consumer complaints and alleged contamination of some raw materials. johnson & johnson says contaminated materials never reached the plant in pennsylvania, and were not in any finished product. the recall affected several popular children's drugs

including children's tylenol, mott run and benadryl. california governor arnold schwarzenegger says it is time to take an ax to his state's budget. schwarzenegger presented a revised budget to help close a $19 billion gap yesterday. the governor says over the past few years the state has done away with the low hanging fruit in the budget, but some programs need to be cut entirely. it slashes $2.5 billion, and eliminates calworks and cuts $532 million to med i-cal, the state's version of medicare program. this is hail. they cracked windshields, and dented quite a few cars. >> we couldn't believe it. it was -- we've never seen any that big. problem roof damage, windshield broken out of a car. it was like somebody hit the

vehicles with hammers. >> it was huge. i have huge holes in the siding. hi windshield got smashed. it was just, unbelievable. >> imagine if one hit you in the head. this latest round the storms brought heavy rain which prompted more flash flood alerts. just two weeks ago, historic flooding hit the same area. a new witness has comes out in the case of lawrence taylor, and she says he did not have sex with an underage prostitute. taylor's attorney confirms reports that the woman says she went to a ramapo hotel with the girl to meet taylor. the woman who has not been identified says she waited with rasheed davis in the car. she says the girl came out 45 minutes later and told them that taylor had given her $300, but had not had sex with her. the woman says according to the witness, the girl described the encounter as weird.

taylor's attorney has repeatedly denied that the ex-football player had sex with the girl. taylor is charged with third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute. john gardner will be spending the rest of his life in prison, but before he was locked away, family members of the teenage girls got their chance to confront him. we know why we're here.

the young boy who is the sole survivor of the libyan plane crash is back home. he began the trip home just hours after he was told his

parents and his older brother did not survive the crash. he was found strapped in his seat in the wreckage. both legs were broken, but he had no other serious injuries. investigators are still trying to fick out why it happened. >> betty dukes is part of what could be the largest class-action lawsuit in u.s. history and it could go all the way to the supreme court. >> betty dukes has gotten up and gone to work at her local walmart for the past 15 years. in pittsburg, california, less than an hour's drive from csan francisco, she's the person that welcomes you as the doors open, except dukes is part of a landmark lawsuit against walmart. the claim? walmart is allegedly discriminating against her and others because they're women. >> over a long period of time, no, i wasn't necessarily told
